system: foundation ready_

One intent model. Many physical forms.

01 / THE PREMISE

Software should begin with what you mean, not where it will run.

Kiro OS explores a development model where human intent becomes a first-class system input. Describe a product in a structured .lod document; a local intake daemon validates it, asks the right questions, and creates a traceable software foundation.

The long-term goal is not an operating system that changes itself without control. It is an adaptive toolchain that learns from approved knowledge, proposes stronger builds, and preserves human decisions at every gate.

02 / THE PIPELINE

From idea to system,
without losing the thread.

Every stage produces an inspectable artifact. Nothing important is hidden behind the model.

01
{ }

Express

Capture purpose, constraints, targets, risks, and acceptance criteria in a human-readable .lod file.

STRUCTURED INTENT
02

Validate

The intake daemon checks completeness, resolves ambiguity, and routes the concept through policy gates.

LOCAL DAEMON
03

Compose

LLM-guided agents generate the approved project skeleton, tests, build graph, and documentation.

TRACEABLE GENERATION
04

Deploy

Target profiles shape the result for workstations, edge devices, embedded boards, and mobile-class hardware.

PORTABLE OUTPUT

03 / DESIGN PRINCIPLES

AI-native.
Human-governed.

K
01

Local-first intelligence

Use local models where hardware permits and deliberate gateways when external models are needed.

02

Permission before mutation

The system may propose and prepare; meaningful changes remain reviewable and explicitly approved.

03

Architecture-aware builds

A shared intent layer can produce different, tested foundations for x86-64, ARM64, RISC-V, and constrained targets.

04

Evidence over magic

Inputs, decisions, generated files, and test results form a chain engineers can audit and reproduce.

04 / TARGET SURFACES

A common foundation,
scaled to the machine.

Kiro OS begins with proven Linux foundations, then composes only what each target needs.

COMPACT COMPUTE

Edge & Pi

Purpose-built images for Raspberry Pi, industrial gateways, and field systems.

ARMRISC-V
CONSTRAINED TARGET

Embedded

Generate firmware projects and companion services for microcontrollers and specialized devices.

MCURTOS BRIDGE
EXPERIMENTAL

Legacy mobile

Explore lightweight Linux targets on supported, unlockable phone hardware.

ARMRECOVERY

Hardware support is developed and verified target by target. Arduino-class boards run generated firmware, not the full Linux distribution.

05 / ROADMAP

Build the smallest truth.
Expand from there.

The project advances through verifiable layers—not promises. Each phase strengthens the one beneath it.

NOW
FOUNDATION / 01

Reliable intake

.lod schema, filesystem watcher, validation reports, project routing, and human decision gates.

NEXT
TOOLCHAIN / 02

Reproducible generation

Agent contracts, templates, sandboxed build workers, test evidence, and rollback.

THEN
PORTABILITY / 03

Target profiles

Reference images for x86-64 and ARM64, followed by verified edge and embedded workflows.

LATER
ECOSYSTEM / 04

Shared knowledge

Versioned capability packs, community hardware profiles, and governed model integrations.

BUILD WITH US

The operating system is only the beginning.

Kiro OS is early, ambitious, and grounded in working software. We are documenting the architecture as we build it and looking for engineers, hardware testers, and thoughtful collaborators.
